The Taman Negara History Project is an innovative attempt to enlist public participation in providing images, historical or personal documents, and written recollections from visits to Taman Negara over the last eight decades. This experimental initiative by the PA Financing Project is based on the premise that the collective history of Taman Negara is the shared experiences of all the people that have visited and appreciated the Park over the years.
It is anticipated that the different memories associated with the people’s history of the park will be as fascinating and as diverse as the Park itself. The exhibition has also provided a platform to collate historical artifacts and documents that provide rare insight into the factors and characters involved in the establishment of Peninsula Malaysia’s largest protected area of 4,343 square kilometres straddling the states of Kelantan, Pahang and Terengganu.
